Cruised around town snagging a few pix of the ice that settled on the area after the storm dubbed the “winter wallop” passed thru toward the end of January 2010 – about 6 weeks after getting hit by “blizzard 2009″ which brought the area a rare white Christmas.  Unless you’ve been somewhere under an umbrella on a beach with a mai-tai in one hand and a novel in the other, you probably know that the winter wallop slammed into several states – NM, TX & OK were just three of them.

The ice that fell on 28 January left behind considerable damage.  As late as 31 January…there were still businesses and residences alike without power.  There were tree-trimming companies from as far away as Minnesota working the area.  Besides the power poles that went down, there are a few that are leaning and it was feared they might go down.  These particular poles were just put in to replace the ones destroyed by “blizzard 2009.”  The power, cable and phone crews have been putting in some serious hours trying to restore service to people.  Fence companies will probably have more business than they can handle.  No doubt the city will spend several weeks cleaning up parks and other city property, and picking up brush put out by residents.

I lost power for only about an hour the day the storm hit…but ended up without any TV for a tad over 2 days.
