It wasn’t until I was in high school, and my brother was in junior high school that we found out our mother used to do water colours when she was our age at the time. And she was damn good at it.
After my brother started drawing pretty frequently, and I struck out and tried my hand with oils, our mother decided to pick her paintbrush back up…but this time, she went with oils too. And despite the many years that had passed between her last water colour and her first oil painting…the head of our little artistic trio seemed not to have lost one stroke.
Since then, my brother has done everything from pencil to oils. I’ve done everything from pencil to oils, including pen but minus the acrylics. Our mum has done oils on canvas, tole painting/folk art… and now ceramics which she has won awards for, and also sells. She has also done many crafts and has always been one helluva seamstress.
